Deirdre Waller-Box is an enthusiastic band leader and music educator, committed to enhancing musical opportunities for youth. Originally from New Zealand, she taught music and played trombone across the country with orchestras, bands, and guest artists before moving to the UK, where she led thriving music departments in London primary schools.

Alongside her role in Amersham, Deirdre serves as a Youth Development Brass Specialist for Brass Bands England and Director of Camden’s Junior Saturday Centre. She also teaches whole class brass projects, conducts Youth Bands in Camden, and the London Metropolitan Brass Community Band. In addition to her work in music education, Deirdre is Director of Big Door Broadcast, a live-stream events company.

Deirdre is passionate about fostering a fun and inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome and can enjoy making music together, reflecting Amersham Band’s core value of being a supportive musical family.
