The band is delighted to report that two Chairs have been appointed to lead the band in its next stage of development. Philip Sweetman and Marion Mayhew have been appointed to act jointly as co-chairs, replacing outgoing Chairman, Fred Harrison.

Commenting on their appointment, Philip and Marion said “We are very pleased and honoured to take on the role of co-Chairs of Amersham Band. We are proud of our people and what we have achieved on and off the stage and we are excited about the next stage of the band’s journey. We intend to build on the excellent legacy of Fred’s time in office and we are both passionate about musical excellence and the band’s broader mission of community, education, well-being and the local environment. We will work to ensure that all of our members have the opportunity to enjoy music-making within our local community.”

Fred stepped down as Chairman after 20 years leading the band. In that time, he oversaw the development of the band to a highly successful organisation with over 180 members, its own custom built rehearsal facility and growing reputation both locally and within the banding community. In handing over the chair responsibilities Fred said ” I am proud of what had been achieved over the past years and I am delighted that the future of the band is secured with two new Chairs who both have a strong track record of serving on the band committee .
