Amersham Band continues to make its mark in the contest arena, this time scooping the 2nd Prize Trophy and the Best Compere prize for conductor Paul Fisher at the SCABA entertainment contest in Crawley. The band was drawn to play first in a field of 9 bands and the early Sunday morning start was repaid with the brilliant result. In the 20 minute programme, the band played pieces from different countries, including Germany, Armenia, Sweden, France, and finishing in South Africa with a new piece called Madiba – a tribute to Nelson Mandela.
Next on the band event list is the annual trip to the Whit Friday Marches, where we will have the chance to compete for cash prizes, albeit against the very top bands from across the country.
