Amersham Band has qualified for the Senior Trophy Contest at the 2022 Spring Festival in Blackpool. The invitation came as a result of the band’s performance at the Wychavon Contest on 30 October. Competing for the first time in the Championship Section, and at the first contest for two years, the band put on a 20 minute programme based on the theme of dance. The performance opened with War Dance of the Red Cossacks, followed by Poppy Dance, Moon River, Mambo from West Side Story and, to finish, the Whitney Houston 1980’s classic I Wanna Dance with Somebody. Contest Adjudicator, Chris King, was impressed by the band’s sound and control and commended the band on good clean playing.
