Amersham Concert Brass invite applications for Principal Cornet.

posted in: General Update | 0

Due to our existing Principal making the move up to our top-section band, we are looking for a capable and committed Principal Cornet to join Amersham Concert Brass; part of the progressive and ever-growing Amersham Band family of bands. The right candidate would be someone looking to lead the band as a player, and also to share ideas about programming repertoire and events with our MD and band manager.

We rehearse Tuesdays, 7:30-9:30, in our purpose built bandroom. Malcolm Peach is our MD; he likes to programme a wide variety of music, often arranging new pieces for the band to perform.

The band enjoys full membership and rehearsals are well attended. We usually have a concert or event once a month or so. As Concert brass, concerts are our main focus, but in March we also enjoyed our first Regional Contest, where we competed in the 3rd Section and came 5th; winning ‘best basses’ as well. In June we also made the trip to sunny Saddleworth for the Whit Friday Marches. Amersham Bands have a long history with our twin-town in Germany, Bensheim, and every couple of years we pop over there for a festival. Just recently it was our turn, and we hosted Bensheim friends from the Fehlheim Band for a weekend of events. Concert Brass aims to be extremely welcoming and friendly to anyone coming through our doors, as well as having high musical standards. We have a good social side with regular post-band drinks, and various ad-hoc activities to suit our members of all ages!

If you think you might be the right player to join us, get in touch with band manager, Caroline Perkins: amershamband@gmail.com
