Everyone in our Amersham Band family is sad at the passing of Roger Speller on 22nd October.

Roger played an important part in the reformation of the band in 1977, and was at the inaugural committee meeting at The Swan in Old Amersham with Mayor Jean Archer and Councillor Eric Edmonds, he encouraged his son Kim Speller and daughter Lee Speller to join too.
Two years after the reformation he was on the band’s first visit to Bensheim in 1979 and later became Chairman of the Amersham/Bensheim Society in the late 80’s and early 90’s.
Roger recently celebrated the band’s 40th Anniversary, having played tenor horn not only in the original band but helping the youngsters in training band, moving up to Community Brass and then joining Vintage Brass in recent years
