Our rising star trombone player, 12 year old Emily Nicolas performed “The Acrobat” a well known trombone solo, as part of the Acrobat Challenge. This is a social network appeal in aid of Stephen Sykes, a young trombone player who is suffering from cancer. The appeal, which is based on Facebook, is raising money for specialist treatment. As part of the challenge, the performer plays The Acrobat and can then nominate three other musicians to upload videos of their own performances. The band’s Musical Director, Paul Fisher, laid down the challenge to the pop group Madness, the trombone section from Fodens Band and the International Staff Band of the Salvation Army.
