We are building our own Bandroom!

We are aiming to raise £425,000 to build our own bandroom. Our current rented space is now too small to meet our growing needs and we have been given planning permission to build on a vacant site in Old Amersham. A new bandroom will give us the ability to further expand our bands, and to develop our community brass and beginner groups. We also plan to open a brass music academy for individual and group teaching.

How the money will be spent

We need to raise the money to build a purpose built bandroom which is centrally located in Amersham. This will cover the capital cost of construction and the costs of equipping the new facility. We will also use the money to launch the brass academy and to support disadvantaged children who want to learn a brass instrument.

How this will benefit the community

Music making within a group has many positive aspects, it is fun, reduces stress, encourages social interaction, and can inspire people to take action to change their lives. Our plans for Amersham Band will extend the accessibility of learning music throughout the local community, in particular to young people and senior citizens. The development of our bands will mean that we can give more performances for the enjoyment of local people, supporting more local events and social activities.

We also plan to make the building available to other local music groups when not in use by the band. This will be a welcome addition to local facilities as there is currently a shortage of community-use property.
