On Sunday 25 October, Amersham Community Brass took to the stage for its very first contest – with trombone player Anisha Khilji walking away with the best soloist trophy. The band had been invited to take part in the Addlestone Challenging Brass event which is a friendly competition between four local bands. The band played an entertainment programme based on a theme of holidays, with pieces from around the world such as Waltzing Matilda, African Funk and O Sole Mio, featuring  the winning solo by Anisha. The band also played the set piece march “Viscount Nelson”. ACB Musical Director, Mary Wells said “Everyone worked really hard to prepare the programme and I am delighted with our performance. We made a great impression at our contest debut, even though we were up against much more experienced contesting bands. We should all be very proud of what we have achieved”.
