The band held its annual solo competition on Sunday 28 February. There were 18 entries including solos, duets, a trio and a quintet, with the competition divided into beginner, intermediate and advanced sections. Professor Gordon Campbell was the adjudicator and he generously gave every performer a mini-masterclass on improving their playing skills. Gordon was highly impressed with the standard of playing from some of the younger performers and he had a challenge to choose the winners. Final results were as follows.
Beginner Section – First Prize: George Digby. Highly Commended: Stephen Knight..
Intermediate – Joint First Prize: Murray and Matthew. Highly Commended: Garry, Rebecca and Carys (trio).
Advanced – First Prize: Oli Moring, Highly Commended: Rod Stevens.
