Amersham Band made an impressive impact at our very first appearance in the Section Section of the London and Southern Counties Regional Championship. Having only been promoted in January, the band secured 4th place out of 15 competing bands, As newcomers to this level of performance, the band was delighted with the result. Band Chairman, Fred Harrison said “it’s a brilliant result and a justified reward for all the hard work that went into practice and rehearsals prior to the contest. The band performed a set piece for the contest – Variations on Maccabeus, which is based on the hymn tune “Thine is the Glory” by Handel.
