Town Band Concert

A concert arranged by Amersham Men’s Own was given in the Town Hall, on Thursday in last week, for the joint benefit of the Amersham Town Band and the Men’s Own Society. Mr A W Edwards the hon. Secretary of the society had secured the assistance of a good number of local favourites and an enjoyable evening was spent by the large audience who were not wanting in showing their appreciation of the efforts of the artists. In addition to the vocalists, the band and the Men’s own orchestra played various selections where were much appreciated. The chef vocalists were Mr E Tyrwhitt Drake, Mr H C Ford, Mr Currie, Mt T L Baker and MR Pearce. Recitations were given by Messrs Smith and Wilkins and a dialogue entitled ‘A Domineering Wife’ was performed by Mr B Rance the Misses E Ager and M Atkins and Messrs B Rance W Rance and E Cook. The total profits of the evening amounted to £2 13s 4d and was divided as above stated.
