Death of an Old Townsman

We regret to have to record this week the death of a well known and highly respected townsman viz Mr Henry Elbourn, late tailor and outfitter. Deceased, who was aged seventy four years, served his apprenticeship under the late Mr Pope of Chesham. He was in business in Amersham for nearly fifty years. He was a prominent member of the Agmondesham Lodge of odd Fellows and successively held various offices connected with that order, for upwards of fifteen years he was leader of the original Amersham Brass Band. He was also, many years ago, a prominent member of the Amersham Church Choir and together with the later Messrs Broadwater and Dolling took a leading part in the movement which obtained the organ which at the present time, is in the Parish Church. Mr Elbourn some four years ago began to be in failing health and ultimately disposed of his business to Mr J G Stone of Chesham.
