A Winning Weekend

It has been a busy but rewarding weekend for the band.

On Friday we traveled up to Saddleworth to take part in the annual Whit Friday marches. The band played at six villages, starting at Debshaw, then Delph and Diggle. Although the evening started off dry, by the time we had reached the fourth village, Scouthead, heavy rain had started. The bands spirits were, however, undamped and we continued on to Lydgate and then a final performance at Uppermill. Maybe the rain helped somehow as the band scooped  the prize for the best Second Section band at Uppermill,

The day after getting back from Yorkshire, the band was again on the stage, this time competing in an entertainments contest in Crawley. We were delighted to be awarded first place in B Section  and also to win the prize for the best trombone section. In one weekend our trophy cabinet is being well restocked.
